In brief, the bus is the only public transport option in Syros. At the same time, it is the most affordable way to move around the island.

A total of 13 modern buses serve locals and visitors alike in Syros.
The starting point of all routes is the offices of the KTEL company, located in a very central location in Ermoupolis and more specifically adjacent to the port.
The availability of routes depends on the season. Itineraries are more frequent in summer in order to serve the thousands of vacationers who visit the island.

The destinations one can reach via bus mainly include tourist spots and resorts. However, no route stops at the airport.

 

Bus tickets

Regardless of the starting point and destination, a one-way ticket costs 1.60 EUR-1.70 EUR.
Tickets are purchased inside the buses. Children up to 5 years old can travel for free as long as they don't occupy a seat.
Please keep in mind that buses follow the "first come, first served" policy, so if you board the bus early enough, you will have the chance to sit wherever you want.

 

Condition

Buses boast comfortable seats and free Wi-Fi. In addition, all are air-conditioned during the drives.
The storage space for bulky items can be used for free by the passengers, while another, smaller space is available above the seats for placing less bulky items.

 

Getting to your destination

The central bus station lies in a very central location in Ermoupolis.
All routes have Ermoupolis as their starting or terminal point.
Bear in mind that bus drivers may not stop at less popular stops. We advise passengers to let the driver know in advance about the stop they want to get off at.

 

Frequency

Itineraries are more frequent in the high season (April to October) to be able to serve the island's visitors. Between November and March, on the other hand, availability is limited.
Changes in timetables may occur at any time. For that reason, we prompt travelers to keep an eye on the buses' official website or call the company's offices to ask about the timetables before scheduling their holiday plans.
