Located north east of Milos, Kimolos is a small island that belongs to Western Cyclades. For the most part, Kimolos is mountainous. The highest peak is Paliokastro in the centre of the island, at an altitude of 358 metres.
The coastline is a combination of sandy and rocky beaches. The south eastern part has sandy beaches, while the western part is rocky and difficult to access. |

Another natural marvel of Kimolos is Skiadi, a giant rocky mushroom close to Consolina Cave.
The ground of Kimolos is rich in mines and rocks. It also has valuable flora and fauna. The sea region between Kimolos and Polyegos islet is an important natural reserve for the rare Mediterranean seal, Monachus Monachus. |
