The Caves of Donoussa Cyclades: The remote island of Donoussa in Cyclades is famous for its crystal beaches and the wild landscape of its shores. In fact, the island has two isolated caves that can be reached in an excursion boat from the port.
On the north western side of Donoussa, there is the Cave of the Wall. Between the capes Xilobatis and Aspros Kavos, there is this beautiful cave with stalactites and stalagmites.
On the eastern side of the island, there is the Cave of Fokospilia, whose name in Greek means "cave of the seals" because this is where the seals of Donoussa used to live. Unreachable on foot, this cave has to be accessed by excursion boat. It is famous for its beautiful ambience and the pure crystal water. |
