The architecture on the island of Anafi is not much different from the architecture of the other Cycladic houses.
The only settlement on the island is Chora and it distinguishes for its small houses built on top of a hill and overlooking the Aegean Sea.
Narrow paved paths cross the neighbourhoods and houses are very close to each other. Dominant colours are, of course, blue and white, that perfectly match with the clear sky and the blue sea. |
|
The only different feature of Anafi architecture is that some houses have vaulted doors, like the doors of the churches, while the house doors on the other islands are mostly rectangular. |
|
The central square of Chora is paved and has a monument dedicated to the Heroes of Anafi.
In the countryside of the island, there are several small churches here and there to note the religious spirit of the locals.
