General information

Prasses Village in Rethymnon Crete: Located 12 km south east of Rethymnon Town, Prasses is a wonderful Medieval village. In fact, the influence from the Venetian and the Ottoman architecture is very evident on Prasses in the well-preserved Medieval buildings, the old churches and the old Venetian aqueduct.

The village has been built on the edge of a gorge and is surrounded by lush greenery. This gorge is the departing point for many hiking excursions in summer. Through the Green Gorge as it is called, hikers can reach Platanias in about 3 hours. Generally, the location of the village is very convenient for walking in the surrounding mountainous region.
