Crete Kalamaki Heraklion: Located just 67 kilometers to the south west of Heraklion is the beautiful beach of Kalamaki. It is just 9 kilometers to the south of Tymbaki and 12 km to the west of Mires.

A fully organized beach, visitors can find all sorts of amenities here, with many hotels and holiday rooms available for accommodation, quite close to the beach. There are numerous taverns also available close to the beach which offers a variety of fresh fish.

Also available at the beach are umbrellas and sun chairs, making swimming or sunbathing quite easy and comfortable. A point to be careful about while swimming are the flat stones you will encounter while entering the water, even though the water is shallow, the stones need to be taken care of, especially by the children and the elderly.

The beach has very strong winds at times, due to the location of the area. It is also easily accessible, but main access is via private or rented cars or even motorbikes, as public transport is limited.
