Chania Marathi beach

General information

Marathi is a beautiful, clean shore in Souda Bay. It’s a really popular destination because of its lovely natural beauty and exotic atmosphere. It is divided into two lovely beaches by a small harbor. Combined, the two have a total length of 300 meters.

The coast is covered in fine, golden sand, and the waters are crystal clear and shallow, making them suitable for children and the elderly. Across the shore, you will find facilities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, and showers, as well as plenty of parking space.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent a paddleboard, a kayak, or a pedalo and have fun on the sea.

Around the area, you will also find restaurants and taverns where you can taste delicious Greek and Mediterranean specialties, and various types of comfortable, deluxe accommodations (mostly villas and family houses).

The gorgeous view of Drapanos Cape and the White Mountains makes swimming in Marathi a truly enchanting experience. Nearby, you will discover the archaeological site of Ancient Minoa, where you will see remains of old buildings and baths, military facilities, and a villa.

Opposite the beach lies the small island of Marathi (or Palia Souda). You can get there by swimming.
