Get the chance to live one of the most festive Greek traditions: Clean Monday. Also known as Koulouma, Clean Monday is celebrated on the 7th Monday before Easter for the Greeks and consists of many customs, such as kite flying.
The perfect place to celebrate this year’s Clean Monday is at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. In cooperation with the Municipality of Kallithea, visitors will have the chance to enjoy the revival of two traditional customs: the Genitsaroi and Boules, which is a traditional carnival custom from Naousa, in Northern Greece and the “Bey” custom, also coming from Northern Greece.
Traditional Greek music could not be missing from such an event. Vasiliki Karakosta, along with a group of talented musicians, will sing traditional songs from all over Greece, that have a strong bond with the collective memory.
There is no better way to explore the Greek traditions than to take part to such an event! Find more info here: www.snfcc.org/visitors-center/events/2018/02/koulouma-in-the-park-1902/
