General information

Kalamitsa beach Skyros: Kalamitsa beach is found 9 km west of Skyros Town. It is a lovely, sandy resort and has very clean water. The beach is well-organized but it doesn't usually get crowded. Therefore, it is the ideal beach for those looking for some peace and quiet. Since the wind blows often in Kalamitsa, it is a great place for windsurfers, who often come to the beach, especially in the summer months. Around Kalamitsa, you will find plenty of taverns and cafes to relax after a day in the sun.

Among the sights to see close to Kalamitsa is a picturesque chapel dedicated to Agios Mamas. This chapel celebrates on September 2nd, with a nice festival, attended by both locals and visitors. Moreover, close to Kalamitsa, you will find the grave of the English poet Rupert Brooke, who died on the island in 1915, during an operation of the First World War. He is buried in an olive grove, on a hill overlooking the sea.
