Solo exhibition by Alexis Averbuck

The renowned artist Mrs Alexis Averbuck is presenting her solo exhibition at the Melina Merkouri Gallery on the island of Hydra, from May 12th to May 21st. The reception is on Saturday May 16th at 7pm. The exhibition includes oil paintings. Alexis Averbuck was born in 1972 in the United States. She began travelling from an early age and lived in different countries. She studied African American Studies in Harvard University and published many travel books. After a seminal year in McMurdo Station, Antartica, in 1995, Alexis Averbuck got interested in a variety of visual artistic forms. Since then, she has worked with aquarelle in India, worked at the glass blowing Studio Inferno in New Orleans, became a printmaker in the atelier of Frances Swigart-Steg and apprenticed with painter Judy Tuwaletstiwa in Arizona. She has done many exhibitions of her work and has sold to private collectors. Currently, she is living permanently on Hydra and is writing travel books for Lonely Planet Publications.
