Named European Youth Capital 2014

The beautiful town of Thessaloniki was proved the best candidate to hold the title of the European Youth Capital for 2014, after being chosen to present an annually program of innovative activities on a European level. According to Peter Matjasic, president of the European Youth Campaign, Thessaloniki built the strongest application with an insightful program that inspires creative and artistic ideas and reflects the standards of the new generations. Through the upcoming event, the team of Thessaloniki plans to organize various programs related to cultural, social and economical activities that will enhance tourism to a large extend and will make this town a popular tourist destination. It is worth mentioning that Thessaloniki won over two strong contestants, Heraklion Town Crete and Ivanovo Russia. It is expected that Thessaloniki will focus on a series of youth topics and environmental issues.
