Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Nov 04, 2016 — Nov 13, 2016 • Category: Events

The biggest film festival will be opening its doors for the 57th time to the audiences in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki with (once again) many international distinguished names, films, interviews, screenings, talks and exciting events. Every year, people buzz about the event months before it starts and on the actual dates, the vibrant city of Thessaloniki turns into a creative space where people talk about it all the time.
From the 4th until the 13th of November 2016 in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, the festival will be flooding the cinema rooms with new productions whose aim is to distribute, promote and develop new talents and artistic approaches.
The aim of the festival has always been to focus on emerging artists and disseminate less “famous” movies to the wider public. Past years have included many talks and interviews from artists, directors and actors who have contributed creatively to this huge event of cinematic art. The festival always features a tribute to Balkan artists, while many other tributes have been made to artists such as Aki Kaurismaki, M.Kakoyiannis, Theo Aggelopoulos and more in many different forms. The festival is also a very good opportunity to gain insight into current matters around the world but also explore trends in the directorial stage of Greek cinema.
The festival always features a lot of volunteers who are eager to help you guide yourself among the screening rooms or find the right movie to watch. The festival is always accompanied by parties and parallel art events where you can meet other interesses and engage in fertile discussions.
