New Silk Road Exhibition until mid May

Dec 17, 2014 — May 16, 2015 • Category: Events

The exhibition of contemporary Chinese porcelain art entitled New Silk Road is hosted presently at the Museum of Asian Art in Corfu Town. The exhibition will last until May 16th, 2015 and it presents about 80 masterpieces of artists from the Master Alliance of Art Ceramic in China and the Ceramic Institute of Jingdezhen, the famous capital of Chinese porcelain.
Since the ancient times, the Chinese porcelain is considered the best quality of its kind, something rare and luxurious, which is why it was also referred to as the White Gold. This New Silk Road exhibition aims to present the environment that led to the creation of such porcelain masterpieces and show how the invention of the Chinese porcelain influenced pottery art around the world.
The exhibition is presented for the first time in Greece, after its great success at the Louvre Museum in 2012 and at the Fitzwilliam Museum of Cambridge University in 2013.
