Marilena Sgountzou and Ilias Vlavianos, two young artists have brought to life the art of creating frescoes and icons, by creating contemporary works which have been greatly inspired by the themes and techniques of ancient artists.

One of the major sources of inspiration for the paintings on plaster at Thiras Art Shop are the wall paintings of Akrotiri, as the fine depictions on lime and mortar take you back in time to another era. The art shop also recreates portable icons from Byzantine paintings that decorate the interior of Orthodox churches.

The elegant gallery showcases an exquisite collection of portable frescoes, evocative icons and famous museum replicas. Intricate jewelry made with clay, silver, and gold with enamel work also forms part of the collection. The art shop is located in Fira opposite the Town Hall.
