The authorities of Chania found one more "alternative" type of tourism. They have invited Chinese people to perform wedding ceremonies in Crete. In fact, the Chinese are very keen on Crete as a holiday destination and they are eager to set a new trend, following the steps of other foreigners who take their wedding vows in Crete.

Few days ago, a Chinese agency visited Chania to discuss the details of the wedding ceremony with the local authorities and look for wedding venues. The ceremonies are scheduled for next April, few days after the Greek Easter, and will include sixteen couples from China that have decided to get married at the same time.

These mass nuptials ceremonies with many couples are called Rose Weddings by the Chinese. This is a program that started last year with the collaboration of the region of Crete, aiming to develop wedding tourism on the island.
