The Typography Museum of Chania Crete: The Typography Museum in Chania is located in the Park of Local Industries, close to Souda village. The museum was inaugurated in 2005 by the initiative of the journalist Giannis Garedakis, publisher of the local newspaper Haniotika Nea. The founder and inspirator of the museum provides an impressive collection of typography tools and interesting exhibits including old devices used from the 19th century to this day.
The museum also houses a library where you can find Cretan books and magazines from the 16th century and on. It is Known as the Cretologic Library and visitors will also find some maps and old calendars there. During some guided tours, you will even see some of these impressive machines in action.
All exhibits are accompanied by detailed information and description, in both Greek and English. Every year the museum receives more than 200 students from all the schools in Chania. The Typography Museum was recently updated with new devices and books.
