It is really a pity that, although the town of Nafpaktos is a living testimony of history itself, it counts on just a few museums.
One of these museums is called ‘Farmaki’ and it is dedicated to the Greek revolution -also known as the Greek War of Independence- which took place between 1821 and 1829, and liberated Greeks from the Ottoman domain.

The other museum can be found on the road from the port to the castle area where an ancient citadel might have been established, known today as the Venetian ‘Neo Kastro’.
Passing the Iron Gate -part of the famous fortification of the town-, the Tsavela family mansion can be found, which is destined to become a modern history museum, along with the remains of a Byzantine bath and a church.
