Although it is not famous to foreign tourists, Nafpaktos is among the most picturesque places in mainland Greece. Nafpaktos is a picturesque town in Sterea, mainland Greece, opposite the northern coasts of Peloponnese. The architecture of Nafpaktos has a intense Medieval feeling. On a hill above the town, there is a strong Venetian Castle that protected the region from enemy attacks. The port of Nafpaktos Greece was surrounded by walls and towers that survive till today, making it a special place.
In the mountains around the town, there are many monasteries, some dating from the Byzantine times. The beaches around are long and clean, providing beautiful places to relax. Psani and Chiliadou are nice coasts with cafeterias and restaurants, while Gribovo is a lovely place for promenade under large plane trees.

The Venetian Castle of Nafpaktos is located on the hill top above the town. This is a very strong, well-preserved castle that offers amazing view to the sea.
At the port of Nafpaktos, there is a statue of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes, who took part in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. In fact, he lost his left hand in this battle.
In a short walk from the port of Nafpaktos is the tower of Botsaris, an elegant mansion in traditional style. This tower today hosts a museum dedicated to the Battle of Lepanto.
