Travel to Patra, Greece: Travel information on the airports, the flights and the ferries

Patra is easy to reach by ferry, car or bus.

Travel there - Flights
Patra has a small airport about 10 km south west of the town centre, in the region of Araxos. It doesn't receive domestic flights from other Greek airports, but only charter flights from abroad. Presently only air companies of low cost are flying to Araxos airport.

Travel there - Ferries
Patra has one of the largest ports in Greece and it works as a transportation hub. Although there isn't ferry connection to Piraeus, ferries from Patra serve daily itineraries to Ionian islands, like Corfu and Ithaca, the port of Igoumenitsa in Epirus and Italy. Ferries to Italy arrive in Bari, Brindisi, Ancona, Venice and Trieste.

Travel there - Train
There are no direct trains from Athens to Patra. You have to take the Suburban Railway to Kiato and then change and take the normal train from Kiato to Patra. The itinerary takes about 3 hours and a half but delays may occur.

Travel there - Bus
Buses (KTEL) from Athens to Patra leave from Kifissos Station usually every hour. The trip takes about 3 hours but if the itinerary is express (without stops), it will take about 2 hours and a half.

Travel there - Car
To drive to Patra from Athens, you take the National Highway to Cornith and aftyer you pass the Corinth Canal, you follow the signs to Patra. The road is ample and safe, except for a small part before Patra which gets more narrow. The trip will take about 3 hours.
