Apr 21, 2024 — Apr 21, 2024 • Category: Events

An annual marathon racing event taking place in Pella and Thessaloniki, the 18th International Marathon Alexander the Great will provide a chance for young children and adults to test their physical limits and compete in different races!

The 18th International Marathon Alexander the Great will have four different races, ranging from a one-kilometer race to a full-blown marathon, all of which share the same finish line at the monument of Alexander in seaside Thessaloniki Center!
The marathon run of Alexander the Great has a characteristic 42km route with minute differences in altitude, with its starting point set at the sculpture of Alexander the Great in the central square of Pella! It is recommended mostly for experienced adult runners, albeit its consistent altitude and straight-line course make it a relatively easy-going marathon.
The 10km and 5km races-jogs of 2024’s marathon, starting from the Aristotelous Square in Thessaloniki Center and the Municipal Stadium of Ampelokipi, respectively, are good options for those that want to try out an experience in marathon running, as well as all experienced runners!
Lastly, the 1km primary student race is dedicated to all young runners who yearn for their first taste of running, starting their sprint from Thessaloniki’s Aristotelous Square!

Along with all the races, the 18th International Marathon Alexander the Great will offer all its guests an array of extracurricular events, such as instructive and entertaining games for children, a kids’ chess tournament, a festival of traditional dancing, and a plethora of tours!
It is important to mention that runners with mobility impairments will, once again, be an integral part of the marathon race, whereas all participants will be gifted memorabilia for taking part in the event!
