Zakynthos Church of Panagia Faneromeni

Location: Lithakia

Situated right next to a local cemetery of Zakynthos in the settlement of Lithakia, the Church of Panagia Faneromeni has pale white exteriors and a yellow-colored bell tower along its spacious courtyard! Hosting beautiful, hand-sculpted designs over each wooden door, this church offers magnificent views over the hill and towards the shores of the Ionian Sea!

Panagia Faneromeni is a single-aisle basilica with no dome, though with a fantastic wooden-built roof! It boasts parquet floors and an impressive gilded icon, including the classic silver-plated icon of the Virgin Mary, as well as a handful of large wall paintings and frescoes on the side walls of the church!
