Zakynthos will soon have its own educational workshop for people with special needs. It will be housed in the former primary school of Lithakia village and it will start working from September 2009.

Every year, the owners of the olive presses of Zakynthos would receive complaints about polluting the environment with the juices from the olives and they would get fines for that. To deal with this problem, they built a factory of ecological elaboration of the olive oil.

After 20 years of discusions and plans, the new marine of Zakynthos has been auctioned. If things go well, it is expected to be ready before the next summer.

The National Marine Park of Zakynthos and the French Fashion House HERMES will cooperate to launch a collection of neckerchieves with the depiction of the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle on them. Part of the incomes will be given for the financing of the Marine Park.
