Feast of Agios Spiridon
For the feast day of Agios (Saint) Spiridon, saint
patron of the island, on the 12th of December,
the capital of Lefkada organises a concert in
honour of the saint, followed by a big feat and
feasting which last until dawn. |
Meeting of the Philharmonics
On the 19th until the 21st of July, the
island of Lefkada houses various musical performances
by the excellent Philharmonic band of Corfu; other
Philharmonic bands from all over Greece are also
participation to this meeting and performances. |
Anniversary of the Unification
On the 21st of May, in the capital of Lefkada,
a festival takes place which celebrates the anniversary
of the union of Lefkada (and the rest of the Ionian
Islands) with the independent and newly built
Greek State that took place in 1864. |

Representation of a traditional
wedding of Lefkada
The village of Karia, on the 11th of August, organises
a revival of a traditional wedding during which
the bride is decorated then the wedding procession
takes place followed by the ceremony and the lastly
celebration revelry. |
Celebration of Language
and Art
During the month of August the Town Hall of Lefkada
organises, in the capital, various events dedicated
to the works of famous Greek artists in literature
and arts with many lectures, performances, exhibitions
and traditional dances. |
Feast of Agia Kyriaki
On the 7th of July, in the villages of Nidri and
Vliho the feast of Agia Kyriaki (Saint Sunday) is
celebrated with music, dances, food and wine. |

Festival
This interesting festival takes place during the
month of August in the capital of Lefkada and consists
in various events with traditional dances and songs
coming from all over the world.
A parade takes place on the first Sunday of the
festival during which dance groups from all over
the world are performing. |
Valaoritia
This is the name of a cultural and folklore festival
organised by the cultural society “Odysseys” on
the 20th of July, in the village of Nidri. |
Feast of the Holy Fathers
In the village of Nikianas, on the first Sunday
after the Ascension of the Saviour, the feast of
the Holy Fathers is celebrated with a religious
ceremony followed by a banquet with some local products. |
