On the contrary it reflects another side of Greek tradition, which tends to absorb more a European style. Islands like Corfu, Zante and Kefalonia unfold the Venetian architecture with their beautiful castles and glorious monuments that survive to this day. Wonderful Catholic and Orthodox churches coexist in harmony and adorn this authentic all the islands with the unique Venetian character. Post Byzantine churches are characterized by their marble domes and Agios Spyridonas in Corfu is one fine example. Of unique interest are also the campaniles in Zakynthos, which extend above the churches, forming small towers.
