Nisyros Folklore Museum

The Folklore Museum in Mandraki Nisyros: There is a small folklore museum with interesting exhibitions at Mandraki village, the capital of Nisyros. The museum is housed in the two storey building of the town hall on the way up to the monastery of Panagia Spiliani (Virgin Mary of the Cave). Even though the museum is small, it gives a general idea of the long culture on the island.

The collections displayed here include traditional costumes, manuscripts, large wooden vessels, pieces of weapon from the 19th and the 20th century, agricultural and fishing tools, old typewriters, kitchen utensils, photographs and an old camera.
