Astypalea transportation

Astypalea transportation
About transportation in Astypalea island, Greece

Astypalea is a small island and public transportation is limited but sufficient. Local buses provide good service throughout the island linking Chora with Maltezana, Livadi and Agios Andreas, the port of the island. The bus routes are quite frequent during the summer, arriving and departing every 30 minutes. It is the cheapest way to get around the island.

If you wish to make a private tour, it is better to rentyour own vehicle, mostly because public buses can cover only a small part of Astypalea and do not serve all destinations. The other part of the island consists of dirt roads which are hard to access with a usual car. A motorcycle or jeep in this case would be the ideal solutions. There are a few car rentals as well as a couple of taxis in Chora.
