As Schinoussa is a small island, there are no big festivals held there.
The only festivals to attend on Schinoussa are the religious festivals that locals frequently celebrate to honor their saints.
The most important religious feast on the island is the celebration of Panagia Akathi, two Fridays before Easter. After all, the church of Panagia Akathi is the protector of the island and many women have taken their names from this church and they are called "Akathi". |

On the name day of Panagia Akathi, there is a Holy Mass in the church that is found in Schinoussa village and the locals make a litany, transferring the holy icon of the Virgin all over the narrow paths of the village, praying the Virgin to give them all the best.
Other important religious festivals on the island include the celebration of the Annunciation of the Virgin on March 25th in the small, stone church of Mesaria village. |
| The celebration of Agios Nikolaos also takes place in Mersini village, on December 6th. As Saint Nicolas is considered as the protector of seamen, this celebration has a great importance for the locals, most of whom are either sailors or fishermen. |
