 Most inhabitants of Iraklia are occupying with fishing and agriculture. Therefore, except for fresh fish, you will find many agricultural products in Iraklia, especially honey, which is of high-quality on Iraklia.
Local residents also make two kinds of cheese, mitzithra and kefalotiri and pasta, which they call "pitaridia". Moreover, very popular are "melitinia" cookies, made of cheese, egg and sugar.
In Easter, people cook lamb stuffed with rice, raisins and walnuts. |
