landscape of the valley.

The gorge is of major significance to ancient Minoan history and is considered a sacred place. This, however, does not change the fact that the valley offers many beautiful and breathtaking trails for those interested in a bit of trekking or hiking. At the bay of Kato Zakros there is also a variety of great taverns.
