General information

Nerokouros is a large village situated 5 km east of Chania Town, at an altitude of 90 meters. The area offers various kinds of accommodations and many entertainment options, as well as plenty of restaurants and taverns.

Nerokouros is worth seeing for the Minoan remains dating between 1600 AD and 1700 AD that were unearthed by archaeologists in 1976. Objects found during these excavations are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Chania. In the settlement, you will also come across the street with Turkish cafes; the most prominent of them is called Psilos Kafenes. Another sight of the village is the abandoned oil press, made out of dressed tufa.
