The circular beach around the cove is pleasantly catered with umbrellas and sun beds. It is a popular summer destination among the locals but the limited tourist development leaves the cove with its natural beauty. There are a couple of taverns and bars for a snack.

The bare hump on one side of the bay has its name in Hollywood, as the slope was the location for the academy award nominated movie "Zorba the Greek" starring Anthony Quinn and Alan Bates. A small fishing jetty is harbored near the hill, from where fresh fish is supplied to the local taverns. The beach is 15 km from Chania.
