Ferry companies terms

Here are the general terms and special conditions of the embarkation process of Greek ferries, the tickets issuance and the security on board that passengers need to be aware of and adhere to.
You will find below this section the policies per company.

• The ticket is issued in the passenger's name and it is non-transferable. It is valid only for the class and the trip for which it was issued.
• Passengers of the Greek Ferries should be at the embarkation area one (1) hour before departure for the domestic lines and two (2) hours for the international lines.
• Children up to 5 years old for domestic lines and 4 years old for international lines travel free and are not entitled to bed, while from 5 to 10 years old for domestic lines and from 4 to 12 years old for international lines pay half of the fare and are entitled to bed.
• Passengers with a full ticket are allowed to carry free of charge luggage up to 40 kilos or 1 cubic meter.
• The carrier is not responsible for any damage or loss of the passenger's luggage that is under his/her personal care during the trip.
• Jewelry, money, and valuables may be delivered to the ship’s accounting office for safekeeping.
• The carriage of explosives, inflammable, incendiary and dangerous material, in general, is forbidden.
• If the passenger, the driver or the shipper misses the departure, they are not entitled to any refund.
• The ticket or the vehicle receipt is not refundable or replaceable in case of loss.
• The carrier is not liable for any delay in sailing, deviation and not keeping scheduled route, due to bad weather conditions or orders from the Ministry of Mercantile Marine or the Port Authorities or due to force majeure.
• The carrier and the ship are not liable for accident, loss or damage occurring prior to boarding or loading and after disembarkation or unloading.

Here you will find information about the special ticket cancellation policy of the Greek companies Blue Star Ferries, Superfast Ferries, and Minoan Lines. Please also ask your agency for the latest policies as these policies change frequently.

Blue Star Ferries

Cancellation policy
If the trip date is during HIGH SEASON (07/04/23-23/04/2023, 28/04/23-02/05/23 & 01/06/23-24/09/23), the following applies:

- 7 days before departure: Tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 7 days up to 12 hours prior to departure (in Cyclades, Dodecanese, N. Aegean & Sporades routes): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
-From 12 hours up to the departure (in Cyclades, Dodecanese, N. Aegean & Sporades routes): A 50% cancellation charge is applied and the tickets cannot be converted to open date tickets or to travel another date.
- 4 days before departure (in Saronic islands): Tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 4 days up to 4 hours prior to departure (in Saronic islands): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 4 hours up to the departure (in Saronic islands): A 50% cancellation charge is applied and the tickets cannot be converted to open date tickets or to travel another date. In Piraeus-Aegina-Agistri route, tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date, up to the departure.
- After departure: Tickets cannot be canceled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.

For the period from 07/04/23-16/04/23 & 01/06/23-03/06/23 for all departures from Piraeus, Lavrio, Volos, Kavala and Thessaloniki and for the period from 17/04/23-23/04/23 & 05/06/23-06/06/23 for all departures to Piraeus, Lavrio, Volos, Kavala, and Thessalonki tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date, 14 days before departure. From 14 to 7 days before departure, the tickets are 75% refunded or alternatively, they are turned to open-date tickets or can be changed for another date.

Concerning the Saronic islands routes, for the period from 07/04/23-16/04/23 & 01/06/23-03/06/23 for all departures from Piraeus and for the period from 17/04/23-23/04/23 & 05/06/23-06/06/23 for all departures to Piraeus tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date, 7 days before departure. From 7 to 4 days before departure, the tickets are 75% refunded or alternatively, they are turned to open-date tickets or can be changed for another date. The same applies to all intermediate routes.

During LOW SEASON (all other dates):
- 3 days before departure: Tickets are canceled without charge or can be converted to open date tickets.
- From 3 days up to 1 hour prior to departure (in Cyclades, Dodecanese, N. Aegean & Sporades routes): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 1 hour up to the departure (in Cyclades, Dodecanese, N. Aegean & Sporades routes): A 50% cancellation charge is applied and the tickets cannot be converted to open date tickets or to travel another date.
- 1 day before departure (in Saronic islands): Tickets are canceled without charge or can be converted to open date tickets.
-From 1 day up to the departure (in Saronic islands): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- After departure: Tickets cannot be canceled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.

OPEN DATE TICKETS: Open date tickets are canceled without fees when they have been originally issued an open date. Tickets which have been converted to open date, are cancelled according to the cancellation terms and conditions of the originally issued tickets.
* Tickets can only be invalidated by the issuing agency and they cannot be invalidated over the phone. Passengers who wish to cancel their tickets must hand them over to the issuing agency.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Altered cancellation policy of Blue Star ferries due to Covid-19 Pandemic for bookings made before the 07/07/2020.
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open Date Tickets / Credit Voucher to use within 18 months from the date of your initial trip, on any route of the ferry company.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Golden Star Ferries

- 14 days before the departure, the tickets are fully refunded or turned to open-date tickets or they are changed to another day.
- From 14 days to 7 days before departure: the tickets are 75% refunded or alternatively they are turned to open date tickets.
- From 6 days up to 12 hours before departure: 50% refund or change to open date ticket.
- From 12 hours before departure to upon departure time: the tickets can not be cancelled or turned to open date tickets.
* After the ferry departure, the tickets can not be cancelled or turned to open date tickets.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:

Altered cancellation policy of Golden Star ferries for all tickets that have been issued before the 01-06-2020.:
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open date tickets / Credit Voucher to use until the 31st of December 2022.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Hellenic Seaways

Cancellation policy
If the trip date is during HIGH SEASON (07/04/23-23/04/2023, 28/04/23-02/05/23 & 01/06/23-24/09/23), the following applies:

- 7 days before departure: Tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 7 days up to 4 hours prior to departure (in Cyclades, Dodecanese, N. Aegean & Sporades routes): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.

- 4 days before departure (in Saronic islands): Tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 4 days up to 2 hours prior to departure (in Saronic islands): A 50% cancellation charge is applied or alternatively tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 2 hours up to the departure (in Saronic islands): A 50% cancellation charge is applied and the tickets cannot be converted to open date tickets or to travel another date. In Piraeus-Aegina-Agistri route, tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date, up to the departure.
- After departure: Tickets cannot be canceled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.

Minoan lines

Domestic Lines
- From the date of the ticket issue and up to 14 days before the scheduled departure, the fare of the ticket is fully refundable.
- From 13 days up to 7 days before the scheduled departure: 75% refund.
- From 6 days up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure: 50% refund.
- Less than 12 hours before the scheduled departure: No refund.
- Tickets can be converted to open date tickets up till 1 hours before departure time.
- The fare of open date tickets, as well as already amended tickets, is not refundable. Open date tickets can be used within 12 months from the original date of the first trip (in case of multiple trips). Difference in rates is not refunded.

Adriatic Lines - From the date of the ticket issue and up to 30 days before the scheduled departure, 10% of the ticket rate plus fixed fees will be charged.
- From 29 days up to 7 days before the scheduled departure: 30% of the ticket rate plus fixed fees will be charged.
- From 6 days up to 2 days before the scheduled departure: 50% of the ticket rate plus fixed fees will be charged.
- Less than 48 hours before the scheduled departure: No refund.
- Tickets can be converted to open date tickets up till 2 hours before departure time.
- Special discount tickets are not refundable.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Altered cancellation policy of Minoan Lines due to Covid-19 Pandemic for bookings made before the 07/07/2020.
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open Date Tickets / Credit Voucher to use within 18 months from the date of your initial trip, on any route of the ferry company.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Sea Jet

- If the tickets are canceled up to 14 days before departure, they are 100% refundable.
- If the tickets are canceled up to 7 days before departure, they are 75% refundable.
- If the tickets are canceled up to 12 hours before departure, they are 50% refundable.
- If the cancellation is made less than 12 hours before departure, the tickets are not refundable at all.
- Tickets can be turned to open date tickets at least 24 hours before departure. Open tickets are valid for 1 year and they cannot be canceled. They can change to tickets of any other date in any other route, upon availability and only once. A difference in rates is not refunded.
- In case of losing the tickets, passengers must inform the company at least 1 hour before the ferry departure.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the following cancellation policy applies for all tickets that have been issued before the 31-05-2020
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into a Credit Voucher to use until the 31st of December 2022.
If you have not used your Credit Voucher after 18 months since the date of your initial trip, you are entitled to a full refund.

Fast Ferries

For cancellations till 8 days before the departure date: Tickets are canceled with a full refund or they can be turned to open-date tickets.
For cancellations from 7 days before departure till the scheduled departure time: Tickets are canceled with 50% refund. Alternatively, they can be turned to open-date tickets at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time.
After departure: Tickets cannot be canceled or turned to open-date tickets while changing the travel date is also not possible. Tickets are canceled only by the agencies that issued them. In order to cancel them, passengers have to deliver the tickets to the issuing agency.
The company does its best to keep the scheduled departure times. However, it has the right to change/cancel any schedule if needed. In case a trip is canceled, passengers have to replace their tickets with new tickets for the closest trip that has availability.

Ane Kalymnou

- 7 days before departure: Tickets are canceled without cancellation fees or they can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- From 7 days and up to 4 hours before departure: 50% cancellation fees apply or alternatively, tickets can be converted to open date tickets or for another departure date.
- 4 hours before and up to the departure: 50% cancellation fees apply
- After departure: Tickets cannot be canceled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.

K/X Dodekanisos ferries

In case the ticket is canceled more than 7 full days prior to departure date, then it is 100% refunded.
The ticket can be cancelled with 50% refund if it is cancelled from 7 days to 1 hour before departure time.
The tickets can be turned to open up till 1hour before the ferry departure.

Cars to Turkey: Passengers who want to travel by their car from Turkey to Greece or from Greece to Turkey must have, upon boarding control, the car license with their name on it and international car insurance that includes Turkey/Greece. If they do not have these two elements, they will not be able to travel in their car to Turkey/Greece.

K/X Anek Superfast

DOMESTIC LINE PIRAEUS-HERAKLION
Issued tickets can be canceled or turned to open tickets according to the following:
HIGH SEASON ( 16/12/22-08/01/23, 24/02/23, 27/02/23, 07/04/23-23/04/23, 01/06/23, 02/06/23, 05/06/23, 23/06/23-03/09/23 ) :
- Up to 14 days before departure date: the tickets are 100% refundable or can be turned to open tickets.
- Up to 7 days before departure date: the tickets are 75% refundable or can be turned to open tickets.
- Up to 2 hours before departure: the tickets are 50% refundable or can be turned to open tickets.
- From 2 hours until the departure time: the tickets are 50% refundable and cannot be turned to open tickets.
- The company has no obligation to refund the tickets in case the cancellation is made during the last 2 hours before the departure or if passengers miss the trip.

LOW SEASON: all the other dates
- Up to 1 hour before departure: the tickets are 100% refundable or can be turned to open tickets.
- From 1 hour until the departure time: the tickets are 50% refundable and cannot be turned to open tickets.
- The company has no obligation to refund the tickets in case the cancellations are made after the departure or if passengers miss the trip.

ADRIATIC LINES
Ticket cancellations are made at the central offices of Superfast Ferries or at the travel agency that issued the tickets.
- Tickets are 100% refundable if the cancellation is made up to 22 days before the departure.
- Tickets are 80% refundable if the cancellation is made from 21 days to 8 days before the departure.
- Tickets are 50% refundable if the cancellation is made from 7 days to 24 hours before the departure.
- If the cancellation is made less than 24 hours before the ferry departure or if the passenger does not show up at embarkation, then the tickets are not refundable at all.
- Passengers have the right to turn their ticket into OPEN with validity for one year from the date of issuance or change their traveling date.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Altered cancellation policy of K/h Anek Superfast due to Covid-19 Pandemic for bookings made before the 07/07/2020.
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open Date Tickets / Credit Voucher to use within 18 months from the date of your initial trip, on any route of the ferry company.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Aegean Speed Lines

In case a cancellation is made within 24 hours from the time the tickets are issued the total value is refunded. In any other case if cancellation is made 14 days before departure a 100% of the ticket value is refunded.
If cancellation is made 7 days before departure 75% of the ticket value is refunded.
If cancellation is made 12 hours before departure time 50% of the ticket value is refunded.
Tickets can be converted to open until 4 hours before departure.

Offer tickets: For specific periods there is a 30% discount on the outbound trip if you book return tickets with Aegean speed lines.
These offer tickets cannot be canceled or refunded, but they can be converted into Open tickets and replaced by the end of the issuing year with new equal or overvalued tickets for the same destination, paying the price difference that may occur.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the following cancellation policy applies for all tickets that have been issued before the 07-07-2020.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Altered cancellation policy of Aegean Speed lines due to Covid-19 Pandemic.
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open date tickets / Credit Voucher to use until the 31st of December 2022.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Anes Lines

Up to 14 days before departure date: 100% refund on tickets value.
Up to 7 days before departure date: 75% refund on tickets value.
Up to 12 hours before departure date: 50% refund on tickets value.
Cancellations made in less than 12 hours before departure are not entitled to a refund.
Alternatively: Up till 2 hours before departure time there is a choice of changing the tickets into Open Dated tickets in order for them to be used for another trip.

Sea Speed Ferries

During High Season: (24/04/2021-04/05/2021 & 07/06/2021-19/09/2021) the following applies:
Up to 14 days before the departure, the tickets can be cancelled with a 100% refund or changed to open date tickets so that they can be changed to a different date or different itinerary.
From 14 days until 12 hours before the departure time, the tickets can be cancelled with a 50% refund or changed to open date tickets so that they can be changed to a different date or different itinerary.
From 12 hours until 4 hours before the departure time, the tickets can be cancelled with a 50% refund to the customer. At this point they cannot be changed to open date tickets or to tickets of another date.
After the departure the tickets cannot be cancelled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.
Tickets that have been converted to open date tickets can only be cancelled with 50% cancellation fees.

During Low Season the following applies:
Up to 4 days before the departure, the tickets can be cancelled with a 100% refund or changed to open date tickets so that they can be changed to a different date or different itinerary.
From 4 days until 4 hours before the departure time, the tickets can be cancelled with a 50% refund or changed to open date tickets so that they can be changed to a different date or different itinerary.
Less than 4 hours before the departure, the tickets can only be cancelled, with a 50% refund.
After the departure the tickets cannot be cancelled or converted to open date tickets or to another date.
Tickets that have been converted to open date tickets can only be cancelled with 50% cancellation fees.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE:
Altered cancellation policy of Sea Speed ferries due to Covid-19 Pandemic valid for tickets issued until the 01/08/2020.
Cancellation is not possible.
You can convert your tickets into Open Date Tickets / Credit Voucher to use within 18 months from the date of your initial trip, on any route of the ferry company.
In case you have not used your Open date tickets / Credit Voucher within this 18 months period, you will be entitled to a full refund of the tickets’ value.

Zante Ferries

For high season (24/03/23 to 26/03/23, 12/04/23 to 18/04/23, 28/04/23 to 01/05/23, 02/06/23 to 06/06/23 and 03/07/23 to 03/09/23), the following terms apply:
- Ticket cancellations can be done up to 5 days before the ferry departure with no cancellation fees.
- For cancellations from 5 days to 12 hours before the ferry departure, tickets are 50% fully refunded. Alternatively, tickets can be turned to open or the traveling dates can change.
For the other dates, the following apply:
- Ticket cancellations with a full refund can be done up to 3 days before the ferry departure.
- Ticket cancellations from 3 days until 2 hours before the departure time are 50% refunded or they can be turned to open date tickets.
After ferry departure, no refund can be made and tickets cannot be turned to open.

Small Cyclades Lines

If cancellation is made more than 7 days before the departure date, then ferry tickets are fully refunded or turned to open.
If cancellation is made from 7 days until 4 hours before the departure, then ferry tickets are 50% refunded.
If cancellation is made less than 4 hours before the departure, ferry tickets are not refunded at all.

Erturk lines

Amendments can be made at the Port Agencies, or Erturk Travel offices that reservation and payment have taken place.
Tickets of Erturk Lines are non-refundable. After they are bought, the passenger is not entitled to refund from their cancellation. The tickets can only be turned to open or the travel date can change upon notice more than 12 hours before the departure time.

- Documentation for cars from/to Turkey: Passengers who want to travel by their car from Turkey to Greece or from Greece to Turkey must have, upon boarding control, the car license with their name on it and international car insurance that includes Turkey/Greece. If the vehicle does not belong to the driver, then the driver needs a legal authorization, stamped by a notary or the police and signed by the car owner. If they do not have the above documentation, they will not be able to travel in their car to Turkey/Greece.

Aegeon Pelagos

To cancel the tickets of Aegeon Pelagos, passengers must address to the issuing agency or the central offices of the company. Tickets are canceled according to the following terms:

High Season (16/12/22-08/01/23, 24/02/23, 27/02/23, 07/04/23-23/04/23, 01/06/23, 02/06/23, 05/06/23, 23/06/23-03/09/23):
- Up to 14 days before departure date: the tickets are 100% refundable.
- Up to 7 days before departure date: the tickets are 75% refundable.
- Up to 2 hours before departure: the tickets are 50% refundable.
- From 2 hours until the departure time: the tickets are 50% refundable.
- The company has no obligation to refund the tickets in case the cancellation is made during the last 2 hours before the departure or if passengers miss the trip.

For all other periods:
- Up to 1 hour before departure: the tickets are 100% refundable or can be turned to open tickets.
- From 1 hour until the departure time: the tickets are 50% refundable and cannot be turned to open tickets.
- The company has no obligation to refund the tickets in case the cancellation is made after the ferry departure or if the passengers miss the ferry.

Sea Dreams

- Up to 1 day before departure date: 100% refund on tickets value.
- Up to 12 hours before departure date: 50% refund on tickets value.
- Cancellations made in less than 12 hours before departure are not entitled to a refund.
Alternatively:
Up till 1 hour before departure time there is a choice of changing the tickets into Open Dated tickets in order for them to be used for another trip.

In order to travel by car to Turkey, the car driver must also be the car owner and must also have an international insurance card for Turkey (green card). For the car reservation, passengers must send by fax or email the car license card.
Before departure, passengers to/from Turkey must pay 15 euros per person as port taxes.

Meander Travel

The tickets of the ferry company Meander Travel are fully refundable if cancellation is made up to 24 hours before the ferry departure.

Levante Ferries

Tickets are canceled only by travel agencies as long as they have not been modified in the meanwhile. Cancellation is not possible through the telephone.
For cancellations made 14 days before the scheduled day of departure or earlier, the total ticket fare is returned.
For cancellations made 7 days before the scheduled day of departure or earlier, 75% of the ticket fare is returned.
For cancellations made 12 hours before the scheduled day of departure or earlier, 50% of the ticket fare is returned.
For cancellations made within 12 hours before the scheduled day of departure of the ship, no money is returned at all.

Our Company's Terms and Conditions

- According to the policy of all ferry companies, in order to cancel ferry tickets, we must hold them at hand, as the tickets need to be returned to the ferry company in order to be refunded. Our company will not proceed to any cancellation or amendment without having the tickets. If tickets are sent back to our offices for cancellation, the amount given will be according to the cancellation policy of the ferry company on the day that we receive them.
- In case of cancellation, the service fee is not refundable.
- Cancellations and amendments cannot be made over the phone. They need to be requested in writing via email. We must be notified at least 5 working days prior to departure date otherwise we are not responsible if the cancellation/amendment is not possible due to lack of time.
- In case you wish to amend ferry tickets that have already been issued, there is a charge of 12,30 euros per reservation and we must be notified in written form (via e-mail) at least 5 working days prior to the departure date. You can only amend tickets of a ferry company to another date tickets for the same ferry company and only if there is availability for the desired itinerary. We must hold at hand the original tickets in order to cancel or amend them.
- In case of a canceled itinerary, our company is not responsible for any further refund apart from the ferry ticket rate. This rate will be refunded only once we receive the unused tickets. In case the tickets are prepaid and have not been printed, the passenger has to inform our company via email in order to cancel the tickets. This is not done automatically.
- In case a ticket is canceled, either after the client's decision or because of a problem in the ticket, our company is not responsible if the exchange currency has changed and the client is refunded with less or more money. In case you wish to cancel ferry tickets that have already been issued, you will be refunded according to the ferry company’s cancellation policy.
