• Category: News
With the decision of the Greek Minister of Environment and Public Works, Mr George Souflias, Lake Karla will fill again with water. This lake was drained about 45 years ago as it had been turned into a marshland and caused diseases to the locals. So, the lake was drained and plots were created. However, today there is the need to refill the lake with water, as to contribute in the watering of the close fields. Karla Lake is situated to the north of Mount Pelion and once its reformation will be completed, it will be an important environmental source for the area and a great natural habitat. Works for its refilling with start in March 2010 and the water will be derived from river Penius of Thessaly. This work is cofinanced by the Minitry of Environment and the European Union.
