Flights to Meteora

There is no airport in Meteora. The closest airport is located in Thessaloniki, on the northern side of Greece. The airport of Thessaloniki is very busy all year round. It receives domestic flights from Athens and many other Greek airports, such as Corfu, Chios, and Lesvos.

Serving as a transportation hub for northern Greece, the airport of Thessaloniki also receives many charter flights and low-cost flights from abroad. In fact, the popular low-cost companies Easy Jet and Ryan Air fly to Thessaloniki.

From Thessaloniki, visitors can go to Meteora by bus or rental car. Many car rental companies have their base at the airport of Thessaloniki. The road trip to Meteora is about 3 hours. Alternatively, tourists can go to Meteora by bus via Trikala.

If you are landing at the airport of Athens, you can also go to Meteora by bus. The bus trip from Athens to Meteora is 5 hours (via Trikala) and buses depart from Liossion KTEL Bus Station in Athens.
