General information

Antikyra village Arachova: The small coastal village of Antikyra is located on the Gulf of Corinth and has a safe harbour on its northern coasts. It dates from the ancient times and it was rebuilt by mid to late 1950s, after the 2nd World War and the Greek Civil War.

Antikyra used to be a fishing village until 1960. However, the area also counts on another type of potential, as it is a great aluminum producer. It has an important factory, located only 10 minutes drive from the village. These activities contributed a lot to the improvement and development of this village along the last decades.

However, times have changed, and the industry of tourism started to complement those productive activities, to the point of making of Antikyra a modern small town with many facilities and a lot of beauty along its coasts. Its geographical position has been an aid on this fact, as it is located at 190 km from Athens while it is also close to Desfina, the monastery of Osios Loukas, Mount Parnassos, Delphi, Itea, Galaxidi, and Livadia, the capital of Viotia prefecture.

These places can be obviously be taken into account when planning excursions around the area. Antikyra counts on primary and middle schools, as well as a high school. Some professional schools can also be found across the municipality. It also has churches, and a square, apart from accommodation facilities.

The predominating landscape consists of a few farmlands around, and stunning mountains full of grasslands with rocks, while the low lying areas have some forests making a nice contrast. The beach of Antikyra is really nice for swimming. There are two more beaches nearby. In order to fulfill the needs of visitors, the whole area counts on good taverns and restaurants.
