Skiathos Maratha beach

General information

Maratha Beach is located just 500 meters before Koukounaries, the most famous beach on the island. It boasts a narrow stretch of golden sand and crystal blue waters, creating the ideal conditions for a relaxing day of swimming and sunbathing. The beach is lined with tall pine trees that provide great shade in the hot summer days and add to the natural beauty of the area.

Maratha is well-organized with umbrellas and sundecks available to rent. A beach bar can be found right on the shore, offering refreshing drinks and delicious snacks. The surrounding region hosts a few restaurants along with all kinds of accommodations that place you in proximity to the wonderful beaches of the area. Besides Koukounaries, the nearby Katharina and Troulos are also worth a visit, featuring even more scenic landscapes and inviting waters.

The beach is easily accessed by public buses that frequently run the route from Skiathos Town to Koukounaries. There is a stop less than 300 meters from Maratha, with a sign indicating the location of the beach leading you down some slightly steep steps to the shore. Alternatively, you can drive from Skiathos Town to Maratha with relative ease, the entirety of the trip taking no more than 30 minutes.
