Tweed Run for first time in Greece

Nov 01, 2014 — Nov 02, 2014 • Category: Events

With roots in London, the classy Tweed Run is now coming for the first time in Greece, during the first weekend of November 2014. Tweed Run, originally described in the UK as A Metropolitan Cycle Ride with a Bit of Style, has been hosted since 2009 in many cities around the world, including Tokyo, New York and Toronto. This year's event will take place on November 1st and 2nd, in the cosmopolitan island of Spetses in Greece, organized by Poseidonion Grand Hotel, which celebrates its 100 years anniversary.
Tweed Run is an out of the ordinary bike ride that gives chief importance to style and finesse rather than speed and technique. An air of grace and fine clothing are needed in this competition. Participants are invited to enjoy the ride dressed up in their most refined costumes, including vintage trousers, woolen jerseys and coats, capes and classic accessories, like bow ties and caps.
At the end of the run, awards will be given to the Best Dressed Man and the Best Dressed Woman, as well as to the Best Vintage Bicycle. If you do not own a vintage bike, there is also a Best Decorated Bicycle award. Tweed Run is all about fashion elegance and connection with nature, with countryside picnics included in the program.
The charming island of Spetses, where cars are not allowed and cycling is a usual way of transport in daily life, is surely an ideal place for such an event.
