Tweed Run again in late March

Mar 28, 2015 — Mar 29, 2015 • Category: Events

After its successful launch last November, Tweed Run is coming for the second time in Spetses island, on this special bike ride that resembles to the rides of a bygone era. The first Tweed Run event in Greece took place few months ago, organized by the historical Poseidonion Grand Hotel in cooperation with the Hellenic Bicycle Museum, and attracted many than 200 cyclists who managed to revive the charming atmosphere of the early 20th century.
The Tweed Run started on Saturday morning from Poseidonion square, which was filled with lovely bike rides and outfits of tweed jackets and trousers, Oxford shoes, caps, unique hair decorations and other marvelous combinations. This entire vintage atmosphere looked like a fairytale, a scene from old times. Before the ride, participants had the chance to groom their mustache at the old style barber shop set up for the occasion at the hotel lobby and check their bikes at the garage that had been especially set in the square.
The bike race headed to the Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses, where girls dressed up in vintage clothes were offering hot tea and biscuits at the large garden of the School and a wonderful treasure hunt began. After the hunt, participants headed to the Lighthouse, where a large British pic nic was set on the grass, with traditional pic nic baskets, tablecloths, many delicacies and tea, accompanied with Jazz Music.
This lovely event will be organized again on the weekend of March 28-29th, 2015, with participants from Athens, other Greek towns and from abroad. Awards, like the Best Dressed Man and Woman, the Best Decorated Bicycle and others, will also follow after the ride.
