1st Spetses Mini Marathon

The first Mini Marathon of Spetses is due to take place on October 16th, 2011, at this beautiful island of the Saronic Gulf. This is the first time that Spetses hosts a mass-athletic event that will span 2 separate routes of 5km and 26km. This organization aims to establish an enduring athletic institution based on the high standards of worldwide athletic events, similar to the 16km Marathon of St. Tropez Classic or the Marathon of Alpes-Maritimes that connects Cannes with Nice and the French Riviera.

Two routes have been selected, given the exceptional natural surrounding of Spetses Island. The runners will have the chance to run alongside the sea and the pine trees. More particularly, the 5km route expands over the north-eastern part of Spetses, passing through the centre of the island, Dapia and the old port, a historic route that is called "Fun Run". The 26km route includes the round of the island which is addressed to experienced runners only. The starting point, common for both races, will be at the Poseidonion Square, facing the historic Poseidonion Grand Hotel. The marathon will start on October 16th, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
