Agistri Church of Virgin Mary

The church of Virgin Mary in Agistri: The beautiful church of the Virgin Mary, or else Panagia is located in Metochi village, one of the four villages of Agistri island. The church is accessible through some trekking paths and the whole route is ideal for hiking. The church is found on a fabulous location on top of a hill offering a breathtaking view to the sea and the surrounding mountains.

The church is small and white, pretty close to the Cycladic architecture. Every year on August 15th, there is an important feast held in this church to honor the death of the Virgin Mary with a great Mass. Panagia church is one of the most remarkable sights in Agistri island.
