6th International Music Festival

Aug 12, 2011 — Sep 02, 2011 • Category: Events
Aegina has always played an important role in the cultural tradition of Greece. A song can open doors to heaven is the perfect title for the opening of the 6th International Music Festival held once again in the island of Aegina. This year's festival has been inspired by the enlightening lyrics of Nikos Gatsos, one of the best Greek poets and song writers of the 20th century. For the first time, the music festival will take place in four magnificent locations around the island, including Avra beach, the area near the archaeological site of Kolona, the amphitheatre of Seergy house in Pahia Rahi and, for the first time, in the temple of Afaia and Christos Kapralos Museum. Locals and visitors will have the chance to enjoy the unique musical performances that mainly focus in baroque music. This year's program includes internationally renowned artists and famous Greek artists who pay tribute to some of the most important music composers of the last centuries. The festival aims to create a forum where Greek and other artists from abroad will contribute to the cultural development of this Saronic island. The International Music Festival will take place from August 12th to September 2nd, 2011. Prior to the official opening of the festival, there will be a small celebration on August 5th.
