3rd Fistiki Festival

Sep 15, 2011 — Sep 18, 2011 • Category: Events

After two successful annual festivals, the island of Aegina invites you to the third Fistiki Festival that will take place from September 15th to September 18th, 2011. Pistachio trees were first brought to Aegina in the early 1900s. Since then, the ideal climate and the unique soil of the island made it the ideal environment for their cultivation. Over the years, fistiki has become closely connected to Aegina and supports a great part of local economy. That is why a festival is annually organized to present this famous local product.

This year, the festival is expected to host more than 30,000 visitors. The trading exhibition will have a central role with farmers, traders and associations disposing the authentic pistachio product, gastronomic treats and traditional local delicacies. At the same time, several specialized seminars will be organized regarding the cultivation of the pistachio tree. Other events include interesting art exhibitions with the participation of renowned artists. Moreover, visitors will have the chance to enjoy concerts, theatrical performances, shows and educational programs for the children.
