Selassia village in Sparti Greece: The village of Selassia is the head of the municipality of Oenountos and it is located about 15 km north of Sparti. It is a beautiful, mountainous village surrounded by vast olive groves. The area is famous for the cultivation of olive trees and its production is thought as one of the best high-quality olive oil in Greece.
In fact, most of the inhabitants of Selassia make their living out of the olive oil production. That is why a large festival is held every August there dedicated to the Olive and the Olive Oil. The festival lasts for three days and includes olive exhibitions, discussions on its production and cultivation and, of course, traditional Greek music and dancing.
