Beginning of carnival festivities

The beginning of the Carnival Celebrations was declared last Saturday in a wonderful feast in the square of King George, Patra. With fireworks and the impressive presentation of the Carnival King, the major of Patra, Mr Andreas Fouras, declared the beginning of the festivities for this year's Carnival.
The festivities of Saturday included dance shows, music concerts, latin and disco songs and a small tribute to Michael Jackson. This year's festival will be short as the Big Parade will take place in about 3 weeks, February 14th. However, about 40,000 people are expected to take place in the most famous and fun Carnival of Greece. Many events have been organized for the days in between, till February 14th, with song concerts, dance competitions, street theatre and group games.
