Creation of botanical garden
• Category: News
A lovely botanical garden will be planted in Ancient Olympia, Peloponnese, with trees, bushes and flowers that grow in the area since the ancient times. This garden, which has been named "olympic botanical garden", will be created by the Archaeological Service of the area and will be located between the Archaeological Museum and Cronion Mountain, just above the site.
It is estimated to cost about 150,000 euros and the money will be offered by the Municipality of Munich, Germany. The garden will include olive trees, almond trees, thyme, arbutus, lentisks, pine trees, myrtles, rosemary and many other plants. In fact, these plants have also been used for the restoration of the place after the severe fire of 2007.
