Karathonas beach Nafplion: Nafplion, located just 2 hours away from Athens, is a famous tourist destination because of its stunning beach resorts and the historical monuments dating back to the Neolithic Era.

There are several beautiful beaches swarming with locals and foreigners. The most popular bathing destination is Karathona Beach, located in the rural area, just about 2 km south from the center of the city. The beach is 4 km long with bars and taverns, which are bustling with tourists. There are cars and buses plying from the city to the beach.

The beach can be approached by a ferry from Nafplio port, however a walk to the beach is also very pleasant and is advisable for those who enjoy walking and this will also allow them to explore the area around the beach.

The lofty cliffs overlooking the beach are the most coveted spots for climbers who can hire equipment from the shops in the area. The imposing Palamidi fortress above is worth a visit. Cars are not permitted in the area and must be left in the parking space on the road above.

Tourists can also enjoy different types of water sports, as the beach is well equipped with all these amenities. The coffee bars and restaurants are open from early morning till late night. The beach management has taken major steps to avoid pollution of the area.
