The Archaeological Museum of Mystras is spotted in a tranquil place, right in the yard of Agios Demetrios Cathedral. It is housed in a two-story building, from which the visitor has a spectacular view of the surrounding area.

The museum was established in 1952. In spite of its naming as an archaeological museum, its collection is largely based on exhibits that date back to the Byzantine era. It includes sculptures, portable post-Byzantine icons, fragments of wall paintings and small items, such as coins and jewelry.
