Churches in Mycenae

Mycenae is a historical town with countless sites and monuments located close to Nafplion. As there are no churches in the town, interesting examples of Byzantine architecture can be found in Nafplion. Agios Andreas is one such fascinating church found within the castle walls. Of unique historical interest is the church of Saint Spyridon, as Kapodistrias (the first governor of Greece) was assassinated outside this church in 1831.

On the waterfront of Nafplion lies Panagitsa church. At the center of the town is the church of Agios Nikolaos, the oldest church in Nafplion. Agios Georgios is the Metropolis Cathedral of the old town built in the 16th century. In both destinations, visitors will enjoy numerous attractions.
