Religious feast to patron saint

On March 17th, Kalavryta celebrates the memory of its patron saint, Saint Alexios. This religious festival includes a watch night on March 16th in the Monastery of Agia Lavra, where the relics of the saint are kept today. The following day, on March 17th, in the morning, there will be a Holy Mass in the church of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Cathedral of Kalavryta, and right afterwards a litany of the Holy Icon of Saint Alexios around the streets of Kalavryta. All political authorities and locals will attend the litany. After making a litany around Kalavryta, the pilgrims will depart for the monastery of Agia Lavra at about 11.30 a.m.
