Kalavryta is known for its rich history, which is proudly celebrated even to these days with the arrival of hundreds of visitors from other regions of Greece. Many festivals take place in Kalavryta Greece all year round.

Religious feasts & festivals

March 17th
On March 17th, Kalavryta celebrates the memory of its patron saint, Saint Alexios. This religious festival includes a watch night on March 16th in the Monastery of Agia Lavra, where the relics of the saint are kept today. The following day, on March 17th, in the morning, there is a Holy Mass in the church of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Cathedral of Kalavryta, and right afterward a litany of the Holy Icon of Saint Alexios.

August 15th
On August 15th, the locals celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin with a large turnout of visitors. There is a great ceremony of the Monastery of Mega Spileo.

Cultural events

Commemoration of the Massacre
Every year, on December 13th, there are commemoration events for the Massacre of Kalavryta by the Nazi troops in 1943. On the morning of December 13th, there is a Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Kalavryta and then people pay honor to the dead at the Holocaust Monument above the town.

Tour of Vouraikos River
Every year in May, there is a hiking and motorcycle tour of Vouraikos River, a region of great natural beauty in Kalavryta.
